About Me

ABOUT ME

I like to think that good knowledge and experience counts for a lot and makes a difference in my industry. So here's a little bit about my journey for those of you who don't know me....

 My Story

After two years at college I qualified in NVQ Level 3 beauty therapy in 2004. This course included learning the anatomy and physiology of the body as well as other written units and practical assessments.

Whilst studying at college I also worked part time for Christian Dior within E&M's and Boots Aberdeen. Although it was hard working under the pressure of meeting sale targets I had a lot of fun whilst working with Dior.

Once qualifying from college I worked in a small salon in Stonehaven for two years building up experience within a salon environment. But the lack of further training bored me so it was soon time to move on.

I was extremely lucky to be offered a job in a bigger salon in Banchory, here is where my passion for skin care and skin health really took off. Often heading away on training courses to further my knowledge and skills, the salon was the top of it's game and I gained a wealth of knowledge from my time there. I worked my way up to become salon manager and still hold the fondest of memories from my time there even though it's now
13 years ago that I left to go on maternity leave and have my daughter, followed by my son 2 years later.

11 years ago I returned to work part time in Stonehaven and gradually built up my hours as the children grew older. It was good to be back in the salon environment again and using my skills and knowledge.

In late 2018 I decided it was time to take the leap and go self employed and on 5th January 2019 Intelligent Beauty started trading. I've put myself through so much training again, refreshing and learning new skills. I will continue to do so as this industry moves so quickly treatments are constantly advancing.

Then two months after Intelligent Beauty's first birthday, Covid-19 struck and we were put into lockdown, forcing salons to close. After 16 weeks the beauty industry was finally allowed to re-open, and I started trading again, albeit in a very different way. I always take my clients and my own health and safety very seriously. New challenges were set with all the additional precautions I had to take to keep myself and my clients safe and minimise the risk of spreading the virus. Hard work pays off, as clients have given me positive feedback relating to the safety measures and procedures I put in place to ensure their treatments are safe. This still remains my first priority.

In early 2021 after being forced to stop trading for a second time due to Covid-19 the opportunity arose for me to turn a local retail unit into my very own salon. A safe haven for me and my clients where I can work entirely on a one-one basis. New challenges along with exciting opportunities await us when we are finally allowed to re-open and I cannot wait to welcome you through the threshold of 12 Ann Street.

I look forward to seeing you soon.
